Cod and Capers is the Freshest Catch in the Palm Beaches

Stephen Gyland, an Old Florida soul, has been reeling in fresh fish since he was young boy growing up in Jacksonville. He and his father would venture offshore to go freshwater fishing, deep-water fishing, any kind of fishing. Despite not getting out on the water as much as he used too, Gyland is still reeling in the fish today, but now thousands of pounds at a time.

Over 50 years later, Gyland has transcended his hobby into one of the most trusted and well-respected fresh seafood markets in the country, Cod & Capers. Bringing in 8,000 to 12,000 pounds of snapper a week, and 3,000 to 5,000 pounds of grouper a week, along with 3,000 to 5,000 pounds of Florida stone crabs, lobster and northern water fish, Cod & Capers has become securely fastened as the premier seafood supplier in South Florida. Restaurant owners from all over the area know that in order to get the best seafood, a visit to Cod & Capers is an absolute must.

"Steve is incredibly knowledgeable regarding his product and he understands quality," says Chef Anthony Sicignano, executive chef at The Breakers Resort in Palm Beach. "We appreciate our relationship with him, and more importantly, he provides us with great-quality seafood."

Since its move from PGA Boulevard to US-1 in Crystal Tree Plaza in 2012, Cod & Capers has transformed into a full-service marketplace and café restaurant, offering residents of the area their chance to purchase locally best caught seafood or enjoy a freshly prepared meal right in-house. It continues to attract the area's chefs and has even grabbed the attention of some of the Palm Beaches famous clientele.

"I love it. It's beautiful. The place makes you feel good when you walk in and you feel good when you walk out," says philanthropist and North Palm Beach resident Barbara Nicklaus, wife of golf great Jack Nicklaus.

When you do walk out of Cod & Capers, you can't help but notice the stunning property across the street. Water Club North Palm Beach, Kolter Urban's latest development in the area, has also been garnering attention of South Florida's elite.
